URITHI Tanga Museum is a project of URITHI - The Tanga Heritage Centre. URITHI's mission is to preserve and promote Tanga's heritage and to make use of the heritage for community development. Urithi Tanga Museum was established in 2007 by URITHI - The Tanga Heritage Centre.

The first Government school Tanganyika was built in Tanga.
By then Tanganyika was known as "Deutsch-Osta-frika" during Germany Colonial period. The school was built in 1893, 'Gouv. Schule', currently known as "Old Tanga Secondary School" .
